We can gone quite far in terms of our understanding. I guess now, the main question is how do we determine where the lift is.

Much research has been carried out on the javelin, significantly the dimensions of it for optimal performance at the Olympics. The project is an addition to the research already present within the Olympian boundaries. Aim is to find out how the centre of gravity and the shape of the javelin affect the trajectory of the javelin and the distance moved. The shape of the javelin affects the lift and both factors, the C.G and the lift are closely linked.

To keep the independent variables such as the angle of projection and the force used for launching the javelins constant, a professional bow is used to launch the javelins for our experiments. Javelins are scaled down so as to be launched with the bow. In the experiments, the range of each modefied javelin will be measured and this may lead to the relationship between the factors mentioned above and the flight of the javelins, and thus suggest the optimal design and dimensions of the javelin to the competitive throwers.
